The writing workspace

A writing workspace built for stories that get complicated.

Pantser is a full manuscript editor first: volumes, chapters, and scenes, written right here in the workspace. Everything else Pantser does happens because you write in it. The story bible, the continuity checks, the map. Write, and it reads along.

Real product, real manuscript: the workspace with The Ashenmoor Saga open.

Built for longform

Two hundred chapters is a filing problem. Solved.

Volumes, chapters, and scenes live in a tree you reorder by dragging. Focus mode clears the room when it’s just you and the page. Typography you can actually read at 2am. Word counts where you want them, out of sight when you don’t.

It saves as you type. Close the laptop mid-sentence and pick the sentence up on your phone.

While you write

The only editor that reads along.

Write a chapter here and the margins fill themselves: every character, place, and grudge gets a story bible entry the moment it hits the page, and every new line gets checked against everything you’ve already written. You never stop writing to do the bookkeeping, because the bookkeeping is already done.

The wiki keeps itself current. You just keep writing.

Anywhere the writing happens

On the bus, in the browser, no install.

Pantser runs in the browser you already have. The full editor on your phone, and the chapter you drafted on the couch is the chapter that’s open at your desk.

Import the book you’ve been serializing for two years, or write chapter one here tonight. Word in, Word out, whenever you want it back on your desk.

Questions writers ask

Can I import my existing manuscript?

Yes. Drop in a Word document, or a whole folder of them, and Pantser finds your chapter breaks on its own. Anything that exports to Word works: Google Docs, Scrivener, Atticus, all of it.

Can I get my manuscript back out?

Any time, to Word, with your formatting intact. Your book is never held hostage. Pantser earns its place on your desk or it doesn’t.

Does Pantser write or edit my prose?

No. There’s no generate button anywhere in the editor, on any plan. Pantser reads what you write and keeps the bookkeeping; the words are all yours.

Does it autosave?

Every few keystrokes, to the cloud. Close the laptop mid-sentence and the sentence is there on your phone.

Is it good for very long stories?

That’s the whole point. Volumes, chapters, and scenes in a tree you reorder by dragging. A workspace that stays fast at chapter two hundred. A story bible that remembers what chapter twelve said so you don’t have to.

Write the next chapter here.
